Sister Lillian Faye Caviel

A Loving Mother, Grandmother, and Friend

Lillian Faye Caviel made her debut on July 10, 1934. She was born to parents Hewen Humphrey and Cora Johnson Humphrey in Beasley, Texas. She received Christ at an early age and was baptized and united with Newman Chapel Methodist Church in Kendleton, Texas.

Lillian was raised in Beasley and graduated from Jack Yates High School in the Houston Independent School District. Afterwards, she met the love of her life Franklin Delano Caviel and was united in holy matrimony. From this union, one son was born, Rhett Franklin Caviel.

Lillian enrolled in and graduated from, Franklin Beauty School in Houston, Texas and became a licensed beautician. Her love for people, led her to open Colony Beauty Salon. She enjoyed making people look and feel good about themselves. Her motto was “If you are not becoming to yourself, you ought to be coming to Colony Beauty Salon.” She was a member of the Brazoria County Beauty Club.

Lillian had a mind for business and creating spaces for people to relax, so she decided to open the Colony Café in Kendleton which she operated for years.

She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend,

She enjoyed cooking and baking, especially her famous fruitcakes during the holidays, tea cakes and preserves.

In 2019, Lillian moved to Houston to live with her son and daughter-in-law and united with McGee Chapel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Walter K. Berry Sr.

Lillian completed her earthly Journey and transitioned to her heavenly home peacefully on Monday, May 30, 2022.

She was preceded in death by her parents, late husband, 2 brothers and 1 sister.

Left to cherish her memories are her devoted son Rhett Caviel (Pamela), two grandchildren Rhett Ashley Caviel (Ashley). Rhekia Franche’ Caviel, two great grandchildren Elyse Caviel and Quincy Caviel, 3 sisters, 3 brothers, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
