Beloved Father, Brother, Grandfather, & Great-Grandfather
“For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” -II Timothy 4:6-7
Leslie Brown was born October 25, 1953, in Farmerville, Louisiana to Jimmie and Lillie Mae Brown. The tenth of twelve children, he was affectionately known to all as Larry. On August 06, 2021 Larry made his transition to eternal life.
Larry graduated from Farmerville High School, Class of 1971. Upon completion of High School, he joined his older siblings in Houston, TX. Following in their footsteps, he began a lifelong career in the hospitality industry. Larry began his career at The River Oaks County Club and later spent years as the Manager of The Century Club. His extensive background in hospitality culminated as the beloved personal assistant to Ralph Eads, Sr. Larry’s calming and easy-going personality endeared him to all that knew him.
Larry accepted Christ at an early age and joined Millard Hill Baptist Church in Farmerville, LA. He later joined Brookhaven Church in Houston, TX under the leadership of Pastor Odis Brown. Larry was always connected to his Christian upbringing and while visiting his home church on August 01, 1993, Larry announced his call to preach. As a devoted member of Brookhaven Church, Rev. Larry Brown served as Associate Minister and Sunday School teacher. His love of the Gospel led him to further his studies at The College of Biblical Studies. Rev. Brown later became a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist church under the leadership of Pastor Clayton Wrights. He was a dedicated member and served as Associate Minister and Sunday School teacher until declining health prevented his active participation. Rev. Brown carried the Gospel of Jesus Christ in his heart and his preaching ministry was very passionate and impactful as he was known for being an excellent storyteller.
Rev. Brown is preceded in death by His Parents: Jimmie and Lillie Mae Brown, One Brother: Thadus Whatley, Sr., and Two Sisters: Tiny Brown Miller and Florence Elizabeth Brown.

Larry Brown leaves to cherish his memory Five Children: John Fredrick Brown (Asia) of Monroe, LA, Kimberly Lewis, Leslie Larry Lewis (Crystal), Jeremy Lewis all of Houston, TX, Nia Brown of St Louis, MO; Two Brothers: James Brown (Monica) of Monroe, LA, Jimmie Brown of Houston, TX.; Six Sisters: Billie Burks, Hattie Carothers, Lillie Brown, Juda Hammons, Linda Bola Patrick (Joseph Shaka) Norine Nailah Mattox, all of Houston, TX, 12 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and many relatives and friends.
