Reverend Barry Lewis Miller, Sr.

Reverend Barry Lewis Miller, Sr. was born on March 27, 1959, in Houston, Texas, to the union of the late Ike Griffin Miller and Bernice Gertrude Lewis Miller.
He accepted Christ as his personal savior and was baptized at Greater Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, by the late Rev. Louis Bradford.
Barry was educated in the Houston Independent School District, where he attended Robert E. Lee High School and played varsity basketball.
He answered the Call of God and entered into the Preaching Ministry, faithfully serving at Greater Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Pastor D.F. Curtis and current pastor, Rev. George E. Hill.
In his lifetime, he held various positions with several companies: Best Stores, Truly Nolen Pest Control, and Foley’s.
In 2010, while employed with SAA, Inc., he met and later married the love of his life, Sherry V. Garrett, on August 15, 2015.
Barry enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. He loved watching sports, and playing chess and dominos. His favorite football team was the Houston Texans, and he was a Houston Rockets fan. He had a classic love-hate relationship with them both – full of enthusiasm when they won and full of candid commentary when they didn’t.
He was preceded in death by his Father: Ike “I.G.” Miller; Maternal Grandparents: Fred Lewis and Letha Tatum Lewis: Paternal Grandparents: John Bishop Miller, Sr. and Charlean Johnson Miller; Sister: Evelyn Joyce Miller Gordon; and, a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
