Mrs. Vivian Joyce Williams
Beloved Wife, Mother, and Grandmother
September 13, 1954 - July 27, 2023
“We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 5:8
Vivian Williams, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend left this world peacefully on July 27, 2023 at age 68. She was the youngest child born to Jimmie Lee and Malachi Brown in Bay City, Texas on September 13, 1954. After completing her studies at Bay City High School, Vivian graduated from the University of Houston where she excelled in her studies.
She later met her dear husband Shannon Williams Jr., whom she married on August 17, 1984 and they raised daughters Kanisha and Krissah. She was a wonderful wife and mother while advancing in her career as a manager and executive in Houston’s bustling oil and gas industry.
Vivian loved spending time with her family and enjoyed celebrating holiday traditions, including hosting an annual Christmas Eve spaghetti dinner until she had a stroke in 1999.
Through her long illness she was lovingly cared for by Shannon and continued to be a light and bright source of inspiration for many. Her longtime caregiver, Lourveta Brown, became a dear friend and the family thanks her for the more than two decades of care she provided Vivian. The family is also grateful to the staff of St. Luke’s Hospital for their care and attention.
Vivian accepted Christ at an early age at Enterprise Missionary Baptist Church in Bay City, Texas and in 1995 joined Southwest Community Baptist Church “The Bridge,” led by Pastor Gregg Patrick.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Lawrence Glen, Billy Wayne, and Gordon.
