Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Friend

Joann Pegues, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, was called home to the Lord on October 18, 2024, bringing her peaceful release from earthly suffering. Born on August 12, 1956, in Jackson, Mississippi, Joann was the cherished daughter of Mary Pegues and Rufus Pegues and the eldest of their two daughters.

Joann was a proud graduate of Jackson State University and also pursued studies at Houston Community College,
embodying a lifelong love for learning and personal growth. She served in the military army as a nurse in 1974. Her professional journey was marked by over four decades of dedicated service at the Veterans Hospital, where she began her career in the 80s. Her kindness, loyalty, and work ethic touched the lives of her colleagues and the many veterans she served.

A devoted and faithful member of the Southwest Bridge Community Baptist Church, Joann was active in both the Greeters Ministry and the Drama Ministry. Her warm, welcoming smile greeted visitors with joy, and her vibrant presence on stage brought stories to life. Her commitment to her church family was unwavering, and she leaves a legacy of faith, service, and love. Joann will be remembered for her glamorous style, radiant spirit, and a humor that could light up any room. Her laughter was infectious, her charm unforgettable, and her kindness an anchor to all who knew her.

She leaves behind a legacy of grace, humor, and love.
