Mrs. Annie Ruth Jackson Calhoun

Annie Ruth Jackson Calhoun was born in Houston, Texas, on August 25, 1936, to the proud parents, Vivian Simpson and Clarence Jackson. Annie Ruth accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized into the Baptist religion.

She attended public schools in the Fifth Ward area, which included Dogan Elementary, E.O. Smith Jr. High, and Phyllis Wheatley High Schools. Annie Ruth held various jobs from a very young age, however, she exceled in the private home domestic-housekeeping career. She really loved to fish and crab in the Gulf of Mexico. But her greatest joy came from serving others, especially her grandchildren and anyone else’s children and grandchildren.

Annie Ruth received her wings on August 4, 2024,
after a protracted period of illness.

She is preceded in death by Stepfather: Walter L. Aliniece; Mother: Vivian Aliniece; Father: Clarence Jackson; Husband: L.D. Calhoun; and Sister: Doris M. Stelly.
