Mr. Wilbur Dennis Wilkins
Beloved Husband, Brother, Uncle, and Friend
On December 31, 1961, a baby boy was born to Wilbur Wilkins and Gertie Cooper, in Fort Bend County, Texas. They named him Wilbur Dennis Wilkins. “DeDe”, as he was affectionately called, was baptized at an early age at New Elijah Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. Albert Kelly. Later in life, he became a member of Crusaders for Christ, under the leadership of Pastor Gregory Taylor.
DeDe attended Piney Point Elementary, T. H. Rogers Junior High School, and graduated from James Madison High School, in 1980. In later years, he attended Tri-State Trucking School and graduated with his CDL License. From there he started his career as an 18 Wheel Driver, which he loved, and drove until his health became too challenging for him to continue.
He had a love for playing basketball, which he called, “street ball”. He loved to fish and play dominoes. His most joy came from being around family and friends. His laugh and smile brighten the room when he walked in.
DeDe entered our Father's Heavenly Mansion, on April 28, 2025.
He is preceded in death by his Father: Wilbur Wilkins; Mother: Gertie Williams (Clarence Williams); Grandfather: Roosevelt Cooper; Grandmother: Alice Cooper; Great Grandfather: Thornton Cooper; Great Grandmother: Gertrude Cooper.
