Mr. Stanford Wyndom Bowman, III
Beloved Father, Son, Brother, & Friend
Stanford Wyndom “BJ (Buddy Junior)” Bowman III was born September 27, 1984, in Houston, Texas, the third child of Stanford Wyndom Bowman Jr. and Marvar Brown Bowman. From an early age he was gifted with a sharp mind, a tender heart, and a remarkable athletic ability that made him stand out on every field and court—especially on the basketball court, a game he loved and joyfully shared with his nephew in countless talks, practices, and friendly battles.
BJ accepted Christ and was baptized at McGee Chapel Baptist Church at the age of eleven. Even through life’s storms, he held fast to his faith, wrestling honestly with God in prayer and pouring his heart into words. His poem “Halo to Heaven” reflects his journey—wrestling with pain, shame, and complexity while reaching upward in faith, trusting that God still heard his prayers and held his future. Another of his writings, “On My Way to Heaven,” follows that same path, voicing his struggle against temptation, his longing for God’s presence, and his hope that one day every tear would be wiped away and the road would finally lead him home.
He was educated in Alief ISD and was a graduate of Alief Hastings High School. BJ went on to earn both an Associate’s and a Bachelor’s Degree from ITT Technical Institute and later a Master of Arts from North Central University. A tremendous athlete and a diligent student, he was always striving to better himself and make his family proud.
For twenty years, BJ faithfully served as a janitor at McGee Chapel Baptist Church, where his quiet dedication and hard work supported the ministry he loved. He was also an author, poet, comedian, handyman, and insurance agent—multi-talented, creative, and never afraid to try something new. Big-hearted, generous, and loyal, BJ was known for giving more than what was asked of him; “if you wanted one of his, he would give you three.” He loved to make people laugh and would often slip away to comedy clubs to perform stand-up routines, using humor as another way to share his heart and lift the spirits of others.
Of all his roles, none was more important to him than being Daddy. His daughter, Liliana Nicole Bowman, was the love and light of his life, and he worked, dreamed, and prayed for her future. He also cherished his daughter of love, Angelina Bartelomei, embracing her with the same deep affection, pride, and care.
BJ transitioned from this life on November 25, 2025, in Houston, Texas. Though BJ’s journey on earth was often hard, he never stopped reaching for God. BJ’s “Halo To Heaven” is now complete, and those who love him rest in knowing that he is at peace in the presence of the Lord.
Preceding him in death and welcoming him into the arms of our Lord and Savior are his grandparents, William S. Holoman Jr. & Marjorie P. Turner, and Stanford W. Bowman Sr. & Joyce Y. Bowman, as well as his uncle, Steven D. Bowman, who taught him the passion of fishing.
