Mr. Jaylon Michael Fox
Beloved Father, Son, Brother, and Friend
Jaylon Michael Fox was born on July 18, 2005 in Houston. Texas to Nicole Herring and James Fox. His humble childhood gave him double blessings as he began with his Mama and siblings navigating through the First Chapter; but, it also included the benefit of having his nurturing Grandmother living just a few houses down on Sawyer Street. He was blessed to have a dedicated Grandmother that unselfishly and lovingly chose to eventually rear Jaylon along with his other siblings in her modest dwellings in 3rd Ward and Sunnyside, TX. This upbringing aorded him the opportunity to be educated in the Houston Independent School District System. Jaylon attended Blackshear Elementary School (where a mural on the school exterior proudly displays a portrait of his face), Young Elementary School, Attucks Middle School, and Ross Sterling High School Magnet Aviation Program. He excelled in academics and athletics throughout, especially Basketball which “taking it to the hoop” was what he loved.
Included in Jaylon’s “Chapter 19” journey is the blessing of a baby boy now 3 months old, Ja’Kyrie Li’Diran Fox who he adored so so much; and, his fiance Jazmine Gay.
But above all this, God favored Jaylon with Great-Grandparents, The Bingham’s who embraced Jaylon and introduced him to the Greatest Gift, Jesus Christ! From his primary years they faithfully brought him to Williams Temple Church where he learned who Jesus Christ was and accepted him as his Lord and Saviour. As a Temple’s Kid and with the inspiration of The Bingham kids, Jaylon was an active participant in the Youth Department, Sunshine Band, Drill Team, Youth Choir, and his passion — the Mime and Drama Ministry.
Alongside Jaylon’s church ministries, he participated in many community organizations, i.e. Village Konnection, Kiros Kids, as well as traveling with his Aunt Ja’mes who served as mentor to mentee as they traveled as a Community Dance Group to encourage and inspire Youth throughout Texas.
On Easter Sunday April 20, 2025 at 2:09pm a most memorable happy snapshot of Jaylon was taken; and, shortly before 4:00pm on Rosalie and Brailsfort Streets he tragically transitioned, closing his earthly Chapter.
Jaylon is preceded in death by his Great Great Grandmother, Jerri Herring; Great Aunt, Cherry Herring; and Cousin, Adrian Herring.
