Mr. David Warren Sykes

David Warren Sykes was born September 23, 1962 in Conroe, Texas to Samuel Green and Willie Mae Sykes Gambrell. David grew up in Conroe, Texas where he graduated from Conroe High School. David spent the better part of his adult life as a Long – Haul Truck Driver. In his spare time he could be found doing the things he loved which included hunting and fishing. His love for the outdoors was integral to who he was.

David acknowledged God at an early age but later under the leadership of Pastor James R. Horace, he received a deeper understanding of the Gospel and the necessity of a personal relationship with Christ.

David departed this life on July 21, 2026 at the St. Luke’s Medical Center Hospital in Houston, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Mae Sykes Gambrell and Samuel Green; a loving grandmother, Maggie Ferguson Johnson; uncle, Frank James Sykes; nephew, Elmer Dearman Jr.; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Dearman and Jackling Marie Gambrell; brother-in-laws- Tommie Albert Jr., Elmer Dearman Sr., and a brother-in-law and close family friend, Pastor Forrest D. Kindley; and a special cousin, Johnny M. Dowl.
