Beloved Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, and Friend

Cicero Berle Dooley, Jr., was born on August 25, 1943, by mid-wife in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born to the late Cicero Berle Dooley, Sr. and Ella Maxine Gilyard, and raised by stepfather, Leroy Davis. On Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the age of 81, Cicero peacefully transitioned from this life, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

At an early age, Cicero confessed his belief in Christ, was baptized, and became a member of Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, Fort Smith, Arkansas, his family church. He attended Washington Elementary/Junior High School, and Lincoln High School, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He graduated from Washington High School in Los Angeles, California.

Cicero became a merchant seaman with the United States Marines in 1969. He had a long career traveling around the world until he retired in 2005. During his career as a seaman, he relocated to Houston, Texas, where he resided for over 40 years.

Cicero enjoyed watching baseball, football, and basketball. He had a passion for cooking and was known for his Bar-B-Q and cakes; and he loved to relax at home and watch cowboy movies. He also liked traveling to his hometown, Fort Smith, to visit family and friends several times a year. Cicero loved listening to the Blues and R&B music.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Marquis Kirkpatrick, participating in Boy Scouts and other various activities. Cicero had a big heart and helped everybody out. If you called Cicero – he was there for you. He not only had a big heart, but he also had a great sense of humor.

He is preceded in death by his Parents: Ella Maxine Davis, Leroy Davis, and Cicero Dooley, Sr.; his Brother: William Gilyard; Sisters: Altha Jean Sandres and Rita Dooley; and his Brother-in-law: Fred Sanders.
