Beloved Husband, Father, Brother, and Friend

Artis Glen White was born in DeRidder, Louisiana on June 29, 1949 to Vivian and Ivory White. Artis had five siblings: Van White, Jerome White, Ivory May Pharr, Malissa Scott, and Edna Ray Babineaux. As a child, Artis enjoyed hunting and fishing with his dad.

Artis attended George Washington Carver High School in DeRidder, Louisiana. As a sixth grader, he won second place in the Louisiana Varsity Track & Field meet. Winning the state’s
varsity meet was an event he dominated throughout his high school years. Artis excelled in sports throughout high school, where he ran track, played baseball, and played football. After high school, he earned an athletic scholarship to Southern University, but declined the offer and joined the Navy instead. Artist joined the U.S. Navy on February 14, 1969. While in the Navy, he
was stationed in Alaska. Artis left the Navy in 1971 and moved to Houston, Texas in 1972. He met his wife Gloria, in 1972 and they married in 1977. From this union, they had a son, Steven
and a daughter, Amanda.

Artis is preceded in death by his Mother: Vivian White, Father: Ivory White, and Sisters: Edna Ray Babineaux (Sidney) and Ivory May Pharr (Joseph).
