Catherine E. Johnson
Beloved Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt, & Friend
Catherine was born in Ville Platte, Louisiana, and lovingly raised alongside her 10 siblings in a home where family and faith were the foundation. In 1972, the family moved to Houston, Texas.
In 1979, Catherine met the love of her life, Phillip Johnson, and they danced the night away at their high school prom. On June 9, 1984, they were united in holy matrimony, and she affectionately became known as “Sweetie Sweet.” Together, they built a life rooted in love and Faith. From their union came one beautiful daughter, Arlisha Nicole “Nikkie” Johnson.
Catherine loved deeply and unconditionally—her husband, her daughter, her family, and life itself. She had a passion for jewelry, laughter, and enjoying each moment. No matter her condition, she always wore a smile. She had a deep love for the Lord and lived a life committed to fulfilling Christ’s mission. Two of her favorite songs were “Trust In God” and “Abide.”
She was a devoted member of Good Shepherd Missionary Baptist Church until June 2000, when her husband was called to the Pastoral Ministry of New Covenant Church. Catherine faithfully joined him in service. Later, in September 2004, the church merged with Pillar of Truth, where she continued to serve faithfully until her passing.
Catherine was preceded in death by her beloved parents: Ferdinand and Olecia Edward; and her siblings: Lucille (Na-Nan) & Elvin (Poddy Butch) Skinner, and Percy Edward.
